It Means What? It Came From Where?

Ever wonder where "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" came from? Or why sometimes a glass gets broken during a ceremony? Read more to find out about some of the most popular wedding superstitions and practices—and their origins.   Stylish Hip Weddings Photography Something Old, New, Borrowed & Blue - We've all heard this rhyme used when someone gets married, but what does it mean? Wearing "something old" represents the bride's past, while the "something new" symbolizes the couple's happy future. The bride is supposed to get her "something borrowed" from someone who is happily married in the hope that some of that person's good fortune rubs off on her. "Something blue" denotes fidelity and love. Ricky Restiano Photography Wearing a Veil - This custom traces its roots back [...]

Is it true there are 5 languages of love?

“If we learn to meet each other’s deep emotional need to feel loved, and choose to do it, the love we share will be exciting beyond anything we’ve ever felt.” —Gary Chapman Ever had an argument with your partner and the phrase “You just don’t get it,” or “I’m not a mind reader” entered the conversation?...Yeah, I’m pretty sure we have all been there. If they only knew how you were feeling and truly understood where your point of view was coming from. That’s basically of the idea behind the concept of love languages. It's breaking down the 5 different ways people love, and understanding those differences. By doing this, and really applying some of the tools learned, you can make any relationship flourish. This concept was created by Dr. Gary Chapman, and in my [...]

Jessica and Matt – June 4, 2016

Florist: Lucille's Floral of Fishkill Photographer: Erica Lee Photography “When two hearts are meant for each other no distance is so far, no time is so long, and no other love can break them apart.” I'll never forget the day when this beautiful couple walked into my office with their precious daughter Ava. From the moment I met them, I just knew that they belonged here. Their gracious, fun and gentle personalities beautifully matched their wedding colors and decor, and their pure love for one another was nothing short of magical. This truly is what it is all about. Hugs and Kisses, Mallory

Melissa and Josh – May 24, 2014

Venue: West Hills Country Club Photographer: Kevin Ferguson Photography “We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” In honor of #tbt, I thought I throw it back to 2014, when my childhood neighbor married her best friend. Melissa and I grew up together. My family purchased our home only a few months before her parents did, and from what we are told, it didn't take very long for our families to become great friends. To this very day, our families are closer than ever, but we've grown from family friends, to just family. Melissa is a year older than me, so we really did go [...]

What’s Hot for 2016- Top Wedding Trends

I came across an article that I thought would interest our 2016 wedding couples. I pulled a few trends from WeddingWire's Kim Forrest's list of what's hot for this years wedding season. Read below! Top Wedding Trends for 2016: Flowers and Greenery Hanging from Ceilings and Covering Walls Floral creations aren’t just for reception tables anymore! We’re seeing floral arrangements in unique places—including hanging from venue ceilings and covering walls to create a memorable photo backdrop (remember the famous photo from Kim and Kanye’s wedding?). High Ballerina Buns While many brides are still loving the loose, romantic look, we’re also seeing more and more brides wearing their hair in more structured ballerina-inspired updos. We love how this style keeps the hair out of the face all night long! Expanding Social Media Presence 2015 was [...]

Kristina & Tom – October 10, 2015

EID Photography Kristina & Tom – October 10, 2015 Venue: West Hills Country Club Photographer: EID Photography "You'll be my glass of wine, I'll be your shot of whisky" I met Kristina in 1989 - yes, you heard me, 1989. I was 3 months old, Kristina was 16 months old. Her mom Lynne, was my babysitter. Kristina was and is the big sister I never had, and her brother Frankie, the big brother my younger sister and I never had. We rode our bikes, went to the park, played hop-scotch in the driveway, went trick-or-treating, and my most vivid memory, eating shaped macaroni and cheese, cheese doodles and Dunkaroos while watching Rugrats (My mom never let my sister and I eat shaped macaroni and cheese. She always just bought the boring regular [...]

Hana & Bobby | May 29, 2015 | West Hills Country Club

Hana & Bobby – May 29, 2015 Venue: West Hills Country Club Photographer: Kevin Ferguson Photography "Your love is like the best cup of coffee...Comforting to my spirit, Soothing to my soul, Stimulating to my heart, While warming me all over." I met Hana and Bobby back in June of 2014, and I'd be lying if I said fate didn't bring them here. They had looked around at a couple other venues, but just couldn't find that unique, non-catering hall venue that they were looking for. Around this time, my boyfriend and I began searching for a place to move in together, and after countless internet searches, we just couldn't find anything that met our needs. Well, after giving the happy couple a tour of our beautiful grounds, I started to gather additional contact [...]

Use a Crochet Hook Tiny buttons are such a gorgeous detail, but can take forever to button if just using your fingers. So instead, use a crochet hook! This tool will save a lot of time and aggravation. Just insert the [...]
