Are You Prepared?!

Are you prepared in every aspect of your wedding? Well, let us help you. Here are 5 helpful hints that will help you through your special day. Some may sound silly, but believe us, these things are often forgotten. Enjoy! Look at each other during your ceremony, NOT your officiant Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Couples almost always make this mistake.  Remember you are marrying each other, NOT your officiant. So when you say your vows, you should gaze into your lovers eyes instead of awkwardly mouthing them to the officiant. Use a Crochet Hook Tiny buttons are such a gorgeous detail, but can take forever to button if just using your fingers. So instead, use a crochet hook! This tool will save a lot of time and aggravation. Just insert the [...]

Your Winter Wonderland Wedding

How's the weather where you are? If you're in the Hudson Valley, winter has come and temperatures have plunged. Yet despite the chill in the air, we here at West Hills can't help but think of the beauty and charm that is brought about during a winter wedding. Our indoor ballroom is the perfect place for a personal and intimate wedding during the winter months. As a matter of fact, we had one yesterday! Our bride did an amazing job incorporating a winter theme into her big day. Here is a little sneak preview before we receive the professional pictures from Erin Peter's Photography. Just because it is the holiday season does not mean it has to be a holiday wedding. The bride played up a winter theme with champagne, navy, and gold colors If you are [...]

2015 Wedding Trends

As hard as it is to believe, 2015 is right around the corner! Along with the new year comes the new wedding trends. Here are some of the top talked about trends for 2015! 2015 Engagement Rings Rose gold and yellow gold have entered the bridal scene and are growing more popular as an engagement ring of choice. The romantic warm look of the rose gold band and the striking contrast with the diamond creates a beautiful and unique choice for an engagement ring. This copper and metallic look gives off a vintage vibe that is beginning to show up on bride's fingers more and more. Another engagement ring style that is not new, but definitely not going anywhere, is the halo engagement ring. This classic style is sticking around for 2015. 2015 Wedding Dresses [...]

Naked Cakes…?

A wedding cake design that bares all- introducing the naked cake! Now before you go jumping to conclusions, let me explain what I mean by this. A traditional wedding cake has frosting on the outside, but the naked wedding cake uses frosting in a different way. The frosting is typically placed in between the layers,  leaving the outside of the cake completely exposed. This gives the cake an entirely new and unique look.   Even though there is no icing to give the cake that "pretty" factor,  the naked cake does not disappoint. These unfrosted beauties come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, and designs. Multiple flavors give certain looks and textures which makes each cake different. Fresh fruits and flowers, edible garnishes, powdered sugar, rosemary, caramel- anything you like!- can be used to give the cake a [...]

5 Things You Won’t Want To Forget At Your Summer Wedding

As crazy as this sounds, this winter weather today has me thinking about the summer in the Hudson Valley. So I've put together 5 items/things that you will want to make sure you have at your West Hills wedding. Your sunscreen! You worked so hard all season long on NOT having tan lines, so stick to it on your wedding day. Especially if you have really fair skin. So lather up with a non-greasy sunscreen and stay in the shade as much as possible when taking your photos. Trust me, your pictures (and skin) will thank you. Fans at the ceremony. Place a small, handheld fan on each guest’s chair so they can stay cool during the ceremony. Better yet, have them double as a ceremony program! A backup boutonniere for the [...]

Wedding Dress + Bathroom = HELP!?

"How the heck am I supposed to use the bathroom while wearing a 30lb. wedding dress?" We know you think about it, every bride does...Well worry no more! Correct me if I'm wrong, but what happens in the restroom should be private, not shared with half the wedding party. Maybe a few extra hands doesn't bother you, but for those of you who would like to keep things to yourself, we have just the thing to take your worries away. Check it out!

Bet you’ve never seen an grand entrance like this!

One of the most exciting things about your wedding reception is making that grand entrance as a newly married couple. All eyes on you, a roaring crowd, growing anticipation, and some fancy dance moves to get the party started! But why just settle for "usual"? Correct us if we're wrong, but at West Hills Country Club, we think it's pretty safe to say that making an epic entrance is just as important as some of those other wedding to-do's. So leave those boring shimmy's and fist pumps at the door, and do something unique and down right awesome! Check out this amazing entrance done by Cheryl and Jason Lee on October 3, 2014!...Pay special attention around 3:00 ;) Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGBRCdoT-Es How will you make your Hudson Valley entrance unique?

Where has the time gone?

Where has the time gone?! It seems like just yesterday we were beginning the 2014 wedding season, yet here we are with only 13 weddings left for the year. It won’t be long before the Grand Outdoor Ballroom goes into hibernation for the winter, and we once again long for the Spring. In honor of Throwback Thursday, we wanted to reflect on some of the special moments our couples have shared at West Hills Country Club. Thank you Christine Studios, Chris Carter Photography, Kevin Ferguson, and Joanne Giannetti for capturing these beautiful photos.

Allison and Rich Wedding Video

Thinking about hiring a videographer for your Hudson Valley wedding, but not sure if you want to go for the extra expense? West Hills Country Club says…do it! You probably get the “it goes so fast, enjoy it” speech from every person that you come across, but you know what? They’re right. It does! With so much going on that day, it’s hard to see and appreciate it all. By hiring a videographer, you can relive the happiness, excitement, laughter, tears and joy over and over again. Check out this sneak peek of Allison and Rich's wedding, shot by Owl’s Eye Studios video. Tell me you wouldn't feel like the star of your own movie? Enjoy!
