The idea of celebrating your wedding on a weekday has been a thing for a long time, but over the past few years, it has gained in popularity. There are endless reasons why choosing to celebrate on a weekday can be right for you.

The current pandemic has changed the “typical” wedding planning process for many couples. But honestly, who wants to have a “typical” wedding anyway? Following state guidelines, many venues had to do the unthinkable – temporarily close their doors until the state deemed it safe to gather once again. Because of this, many couples postponed their celebration to a later date. With an increase in postponements, came a decrease in weekend availability, which led to an increase in weekday weddings; our favorite!

Here are 5 reasons why a weekday wedding is a great idea!

We recently spoke with Deanna Parker, a West Hills Country Club wedding alum, about her experience hosting her wedding on a weekday.

Finding A Date Becomes Much Easier

“The most critical step of planning a wedding is of course what date to pick! You have 365 of them to choose from, not just 104!

“For us, there were a few obstacles – originally it was trying to align a particular wedding photographer with limited availability. I knew I wanted an August wedding, but trying to pick a weekend date was leaving us with either a 2 year out wedding, or a weekday. Because the photography was such an important “must have” for our big day, the day of the week became less important to us. We decided on a Thursday wedding for that reason along with a few other important things to keep in mind: We picked a Thursday before a long holiday weekend (Labor Day).”

“Our thought process for this was so our guests taking off work or traveling from afar could kick start their holiday weekend with a celebration!”

Lower Minimum Guest Count

“Another factor for us was our guest list size. We both agreed that a smaller intimate wedding was important to us, to share in this moment with those closest to our hearts only. Most venues have minimums when it comes to contracting, which gave us another reason to consider a weekday with a minimum we were more capable of meeting and at the price range that worked for our budget.”

“Trust me, the steak will taste the same on Thursday as it does on Saturday!”

Less Means MORE!

Of course the #1 perk of a weekday wedding is the price. Think of all you can do with the savings. Splurge on a longer honeymoon, upgrade to a premium wine package and feature that amazing bottle you had the night you said “YES.” The possibilities are endless.

“With the additional room in our budget, we definitely were able to splurge on the upgraded Ice Cream Sundae Bar, buy additional décor to bring to the venue, upgrade our table linens, add peonies to my bouquets, and also were able to include a Videographer that we would not have been able to do for a weekend celebration!”

“We found so many more pros to the Weekday wedding when we saw opportunities to enhance our Wedding Day.”

“With the few small upgrades mentioned, our guests really were impressed with how detail oriented and elegant it all comes together to – not to mention who doesn’t love dessert! You really have the opportunity to expand and focus on all of those extra nice-to-haves with not only the extra money, but with a smaller guest list as well.”

Your Guests Will Not Be Offended

“Ultimately, your family and friends who matter most and want to be there for your big day will make the time in their schedules and lives to come to your wedding, no matter what day it is! At the end of the day (maybe 50 years from now), you likely won’t remember what day of the week your wedding was, you will remember How Beautiful/Handsome your new Husband/Wife was, how much love you were surrounded by, and how AMAZING the food is at West Hills!”

Perks You’re Going to LOVE

“What we loved most about our Wedding Day was how surreal it all felt. Having a well thought out and organized day helped us to relax and truly enjoy every minute of our special day. I think the biggest relief for a bride is knowing that you can put your trust in your wedding coordinator/venue coordinators and know they will make your dreams and visions come to life – and that is exactly what West Hills did for us. I knew from the moment we started venue visits and we went to West Hills, there was a significant difference in the way we were treated, which was the feeling like we were not just a couple in the sea of weddings for that year.”

“West Hills truly takes pride in their couples and it shows.”

“They take the time to answer your emails and phone calls quickly with all of your questions. The day of, there was not a minute I felt like I had a doubt or concern about any staff; everyone was very accommodating and kind and genuinely happy to be there and help out. Our guests were stunned by the beauty of the venue and could not stop talking about the food! We also loved how many different scenic views you could capture in your wedding photos at the venue, as well as what was one of the most major highlights of the venue, the beautiful outdoor tent.”

“We had the most perfect day with memories to last a lifetime. We look back fondly at our wedding and West Hills is truly an important part of that memory not only for their scenic views, delicious food, but also for the people.”
